The summer is almost over, so many students will soon return to school. Whether you must drive to class yourself in Logansport or you're giving your children a ride to Lafayette, you need a reliable vehicle to get around.

With the few weeks of summer that we have left, why not take the time to bring your vehicle to our dealership service center for a tune-up? After all, you may not have the time once the school year starts, and it will be winter in Frankfort before you know it. With that being said, here's a quick back-to-school car maintenance checklist.

  • Oil Change: Conventional wisdom says that you should change your vehicle's oil every three months or every 3,000 miles, but consult your owner's manual to better understand how often your vehicle needs an oil change. Still, if you haven't had an oil change recently, now is a great time to get it done so you can drive to and from school in Monticello with little trouble.
  • Headlights: The days will get shorter as fall approaches, so ensure your headlights are in good working condition. Test them out along with your taillights and brake lights. If they need to be changed, make an appointment with our dealership in Delphi now before the school year starts.
  • Brakes: Brakes and pads wear down over time and must be changed. If you've found that you can't stop as quickly as you used to, or you hear squealing or grinding noises when you hit your brakes, it's time to replace them. You're likely to see a lot more children walking to and from school soon, so you'll need to be able to stop quickly.
  • Tires: A good seat of tires should last up to 5 years, so consider replacing your tires before the fall if you've had them for that long. Even if your tires are fairly new, have them checked out by our service department to ensure they have enough tread and are properly inflated.
